Prosecution Clinic

The Pre-Law Institute (PLI) and the Department of Political Science partner with multiple District Attorney’s Offices across New York City to provide an invaluable clinical experience for some of John Jay College’s brightest undergraduates. Students will intern one day per week, working side by side with Assistant District Attorneys and paralegals in a District Attorney’s Office. Students will develop practical skills and insights that will contribute to their personal, professional, and academic development. Moreover, the course will be taught by an attorney, Sherry Marcus Cohen, who has been an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County DA’s Office in Brooklyn and served as the Chief of Recruitment at the Bronx DA’s Office. Prof. Cohen will serve as a Professional in Residence and the instructor for the semester. Through this rare opportunity to learn from and be mentored by prosecutors and staff, students will gain hands-on and practical experience, develop and revise professional materials for future opportunities, and critically examine the theories and practices of modern prosecution.
