Project Overview

VMware Server Refresh: Student Technology Services

This proposal requests funding from the Student Technology Fee to replace aging server infrastructure that supports critical student-facing technology services across the college. These systems underpin essential daily functions including Wi-Fi authentication, printing, cloud login and identity services, software licensing, virtual labs, software distribution, and lab imaging. The current environment is approaching end-of-life, resulting in increased risk of service disruption, degraded performance, and reduced reliability, which directly impacts students’ ability to access course materials and complete academic work. The existing infrastructure also lacks the redundancy and resiliency required to ensure consistent uptime for these mission-critical services. Interruptions can prevent students from connecting to Wi-Fi, accessing systems, or using required academic software.
