Project Overview
Library Backup Server Replacement
We are continuing to request funding to replace the library’s aging backup server, which remains unable to meet current operational demands. This server plays a critical role in safeguarding essential systems, including the library hosted websites, digital collections, and internal file-sharing services—resources relied upon daily by students, faculty, and external researchers. Due to prior procurement constraints and ongoing hardware availability challenges, the replacement server will not arrive before the end of the fiscal year. As a result, this allocation is required in the new fiscal year to cover the associated costs upon delivery. In the interim, the existing server has continued to age and is increasingly overburdened, further limiting its ability to perform reliable backups. Should a failure occur, the impact could be severe, including potential data loss and disruption to academic and research activities. Securing this funding remains a high priority to ensure continuity, reliability, and protection of critical library systems.
