This project seeks to upgrade and replace the equipment in the emergency management simulation center and the high-rise simulation center. The upgrade will support the centers original functions and some new ones. This proposal will enable the EMSC to function as a hybrid in-person and online conference room.
Students, faculty and staff will have access to the resources being proposed.
The emergency simulation center is located in room L2.77 in the new building. The high-rise simulation center is located in room L2.78.
By replacing the equipment in the EMSC/HRSC faculty will have the technology needed to provide and enhance innovative pedagogy and effective curriculum. The courses that have been moved and or delayed due to the malfunction of the equipment in the EMSC will finally be able to be resume. New courses that incorporate current emergency management situations and hybrid learning will now be available in the center once the replacements are complete.
The staff of classroom and lab support services (DoIT) will maintain the equipment in the EMSC and HSRC.
The faculty and staff that utilize the centers will oversee the equipment when in use.
This proposal relates to goal two of the 2025 strategic plan, by increasing resources, faculty will be supported through professional development assisting their efforts to innovate justice curricula and pedagogies. The centers will support courses that include curriculum that involves environmental justice, data literacy and digital literacy. Goal four of the 2025 strategic plan will be met by improving operations through staff development and technology. Faculty pedagogy will be enhanced and strengthened with the ability to navigate advanced technological systems. Excellent teaching is far more likely when resources are sufficient to create optimal learning conditions, this proposal will provide appropriate and necessary technical equipment in the centers to produce said conditions.
