ENG 263: Podcasting is being offered in the Fall 2025 semester, and we are seeking pro grade professional podcasting equipment to have John Jay students get experience to produce excellent high-quality podcast assignments for the course. It will consist of two podcast kit, MacBook Pro, and Monitor for modularity to broadcast within a classroom, studio, and other spaces within the college.
This course is open to all John Jay College students. Registered students will have access to the equipment during the duration of the semester. The course will be facilitated by Professor Alan Winson, and with the support of Girard Tecson, the ePortfolio Program Manager.
The equipment will be in the new Digital Creation Lab.
Digital literacy - The equipment will be used to expand students’ understanding of communication and media, which takes on all aspects of our social, political, and professional journey. By using the equipment, students will have the knowledge to acquire skills for creative work to be viewed by the college community and the public.
Enriching creativity – Producing media creates an engaging and collaborative environment for students.
Girard Tecson, the ePortfolio Program Manager, and his eTern staff will maintain and regularly examine the condition every semester.
Girard Tecson, the ePortfolio Program Manager, along with the faculty will oversee the use of all equipment for courses and its maintenance.
Student Success
“Guide and support students as they master foundational intellectual skills, discover and construct knowledge for themselves, attain degrees and certificates, and develop themselves personally and shape their relationships to others, both locally and globally.”
"Educate and support undergraduate and graduate students at every step of their John Jay journey"
Students use of technology is a viable option to increase engagement and better learning experience. Quick and convenient access to professional industry standard equipment can enhance the student experience at John Jay without worrying about their own access to one.
The goal to "Embody and promote our values of equity, diversity, and inclusion" has as an objective that we are to "Achieve equitable student success across all learning modalities." We have as a specific goal increasing student success and much of the activities and supplies listed here are being deployed with that goal in mind.
