We are seeking funding to engage Springshare, a leading library technology provider, to redesign the John Jay Library website using their LibGuides CMS platform. The current website, built on Drupal over 13 years ago, has been maintained and secured with limited resources. However, recent CUNY security mandates require a complete overhaul to meet new compliance standards—a task beyond the library’s current resources and manpower. Instead of continuing with Drupal, Springshare will design a modern, functional library website using their user-friendly LibGuides CMS platform. Without this upgrade, the website risks being shut down, which would be detrimental to students, faculty, and researchers who rely on it for access to critical resources. This proposal requests funding for Springshare’s services to create a secure, compliant, and intuitive website that better serves the college community.
Students, faculty, staff, researchers, and the general public.
The website will be hosted on Springshare’s LibGuides CMS platform, while the library retains full ownership of its content and data.
The redesigned website will provide secure, uninterrupted access to library resources, improving navigation, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness. Students, faculty, and staff will benefit from a user-friendly platform, while streamlined content management ensures up-to-date information and compliant with CUNY security policies.
Springshare will provide consulting services for the redesign, while the library’s IT team will handle ongoing content updates and user support.
Overseen by the Digital Initiatives Librarian and Chief Librarian, with input from other librarians to align with library goals and user needs.
