I am in the process of creating a research lab for the criminal justice bachelor of science (CJBS) students where they will have an opportunity to independently work on their research project under faculty supervision. Students in the lab will also be part of faculty research projects. This opportunity will help students advance in their research methods and other courses and conduct groundbreaking research. We will need two computers (big screen), a printer, and a conference room screen/computer.
CJBS students and faculty supervising the research lab.
Faculty office room 422.39 HH and the Department's Conference room.
CJBS students have no technology resources at all to conduct their research. This will be the first time to have designated space and technology for them. There is no technology in our conference room to conduct lab meetings. This will directly benefit the students and allow the general college community to be introduced to the type of research CJBS students conduct. Sharing the knowledge and directly engaging with criminal justice students is beneficial to other students and faculty.
Equipment will always be accessed in presence of faculty and office/conference room will be locked. Work orders will be placed by faculty to set it up or maintain.
Faculty will always be present and equipment will be password protected.
This proposal directly supports the 2025 strategic goals by giving our diverse students an opportunity to conduct research with faculty and give them research tools to be advocates of justice. This proposal will allow faculty to support students in relationship to goal number two (2) "create and advance knowledge in support of justice education,
public awareness, and civic engagement."
