Charging towers for the first floor of the library
The library will purchase and place three charging towers in the newly established theses study area located on the first floor of the library. The charging towers will bring much needed access to electrical outlets to students studying in the library.
Students studying and completing academic work in the library will have access to the charging towers.

In the library’s most recent triennial in-library use survey (2022), 81.78% of the 657 respondents stated that access to electrical outlets in the library is very important. However, only 23.48% of respondents said there are “enough electrical outlets to plug in my device” throughout the library. This Tech Fee project seeks to address the need for more electrical outlets.
Karen Okamoto and Maria Kiriakova will oversee the maintenance of the towers and may seek the guidance and assistance of the library’s IT Academic Applications Director, Geng Lin.

This project addresses the technology aspect listed in objective c of Goal 4 in the 2025 Strategic Plan: “Improve operations through staff development and technology.” We are increasing the number of electrical outlets in the library to support student technology and academic needs. We are also addressing Goals 1 and 3 of the Strategic Plan by supporting our students and promoting equity and inclusion through the provision of much needed quiet study areas for our students who may not have the space nor quiet to study at home.
