We’re requesting funding to replace the library’s aging backup server, which is no longer capable of meeting our needs. This server plays a critical role in safeguarding essential systems like the library website, our digital collections, and internal fileshare servers—resources that students, faculty, and even external researchers rely on daily. The current server is outdated, overburdened, and unable to perform backups effectively, putting these vital services at risk. If something were to go wrong, the consequences could be catastrophic, potentially resulting in significant data loss and disruption to academic and research activities. Replacing this server is not just important—it’s urgent.
Students, staff, faculty, and outside researchers.
This server will be housed in the DoIT Datacenter
By ensuring these systems are properly backed up, we’re not just protecting data—we’re ensuring that everyone has uninterrupted access to the tools they need to succeed. This upgrade will ensure the continuity of essential services that the library provides.
The new server will be maintained by the Library’s IT Staff, who will perform regular updates, monitor system health, and ensure successful backups.
