VMOCK:Artificial Intelligence Resume, Cover Letter
The Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (JJCC) seeks to renew the annual subscription licensing for VMOCK, an artificial intelligence (AI) based platform that provides professional resume, cover letter and interview preparation for students. The 8-person staffing capacity of the CCPD creates barriers to successfully serving the full JJCC undergraduate and graduate student body of approximately 15,000. VMOCK offers the ability to efficiently, scale the reach of the CCPD staff by using an online, AI platform to support the career readiness our students and alumni. Additionally, CCPD can create customized resume, cover letter and interview templates designed to align with the student’s and or alumni’s career industry of interest (i.e. Technology, Finance, Pharmaceutical, etc.). Unlike other platforms that require high level of management and monitoring by CCPD staff, VMOCK allows students to engage in meaningful career preparation activities independently, based on their availability (24/7), and with minimal support from a CCPD staff member. Consequently, students can learn, practice, and prepare for career advising appointments, interviews and other networking opportunities through this AI based career readiness platform.
VMOCK complements career readiness content fundamentals for resume and cover letter creation plus interviewing prep work of the CCPD Staff. VMOCK unifies the career readiness content delivery to our students and alumni provided by department-based Career Specialist across the college by creating a standard foundation for career conversations. CCPD will use data gathered through VMOCK to build tailored career interventions for students based on the platform’s assessment of student needs.
VMOCK is a web-based software that will not need a physical space or hardware.
VMOCK establishes quality of career readiness preparation delivery to all JJCC students. It enhances the collaboration and practices across all segments of the college including admissions, academic advising major and minor departments, cohort programs. VMOCK serves to attract and retain students who are keen to enhance their career planning. VMOCK centralizes equitable access to career readiness preparation for all JJCC students and alumni. VMOCK will expand the reach of the CCPD staff by incre

Under the leadership of Karol V. Mason, John Jay College of Criminal Justice established four goals with critical objectives under each in the 2025 Strategic Plan (see list of goals and specific objectives that VMOCK use and implementation aligns with). In summary, VMOCK, allows CCPD staff to educate JJCC undergraduate and graduate students (as well as alumni) on the fundamentals of career readiness by creating smart, scalable, targeted initiatives that improve access and engagement in experiential learning. In addition, VMOCK provides the lifelong knowledge of how to create and use the tools (Resume, Cover Letter and Interviewing Skills) needed to successfully land an experiential education opportunity (i.e. internship, research position, capstone, full-time employment) during school and post-graduation. Further, VMOCK, creates equity in accessing these professional career coaching services/resources through an online, AI-based, platform that is available to all students from anywhere and everywhere, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days of the year. VMOCK supports the institutions goals by improving student career outcomes resulting in improved social mobility post-graduation.
