The library is requesting funding to purchase SSL certificates for all of the library web services. These include the main library website, our digital collection website, proxy server, and more. Without this allocation, the library website, ezproxy service, and our digital collection website will all be functioning without any type of security. Without these certificates, both students and faculty will risk
having their sensitive information exposed every time they use our website.
All library users--students, faculty, staff and visiting scholars.
These certificates will reside on our web servers.
The certificates are critical in ensuring the security of our web services. They are used to encrypt our many websites that students and faculty visit on a daily basis. Without encrypting we would be exposing
sensitive information to hackers.
The certificates will be maintained by our IT Academic Applications Director.
The certificates will be supervised by our IT Academic Applications Director.
The certificates will specifically support the primary Objective of the Second Goal-- “Establish the infrastructure needed to support high quality research, scholarship and creative work.” In order to support that goal, the security of our heavily used web services is no longer an option, but a necessity.
